DAY 1: Arrival in Kigali – Warm Welcome to Rwanda

As you touch down at Kigali International Airport, the Activentures Africa team will be waiting to greet you with a warm Rwandan welcome. After fast-tracking your customs procedures, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in the heart of the capital.

Settle into your room, enjoy the hotel’s amenities, and relax after your journey. Dinner is served onsite as you begin to unwind in Africa’s cleanest and most charming city.

    Meals: Dinner
    Accommodation: Hotel 2000 Kigali

DAY 2: Scenic Transfer to Akagera National Park – Night Safari Drive

After breakfast, depart Kigali and begin your journey to Akagera National Park, one of East Africa’s most scenic savannah ecosystems. Rolling green hills give way to golden plains as you travel eastward.

Upon arrival at the park gates, your first game drive begins en route to the lodge—with chances to spot giraffes, zebras, elephants, and the elusive lion among the acacia-dotted landscape.

After lunch and time to relax at the lodge, the excitement continues with a night game drive, a rare chance to observe nocturnal species such as bush babies, genets, hyenas, and owls as they emerge under cover of darkness.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Akagera Game Lodge or similar

DAY 3: Full-Day Safari & Lake Ihema Boat Cruise

Start early for a southern game drive through Akagera’s giraffe-rich savannahs and lake-bordered roads. Watch for large herds of buffalo, topi, warthog, and, with luck, one of the park’s resident leopards.

Midday, take a break at one of the scenic picnic areas before heading to Lake Ihema for a boat cruise, where you’ll glide past basking hippos, crocodiles, and prolific birdlife—kingfishers, fish eagles, herons, and even the prehistoric-looking shoebill stork.

In the afternoon, return to Kigali for a comfortable overnight stay and a delicious dinner at your hotel.

    Meals: Breakfast & Lunch, Dinner
    Accommodation:Hotel 2000 Kigali

DAY 4: Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Nyungwe Forest

Begin the morning with an enriching guided city tour of Kigali, visiting key sites like the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local artisan markets in Kimironko, and art spaces that showcase Rwanda’s creative renaissance.

Depart the city southward toward Nyungwe National Park, stopping for a guided visit of the King’s Palace in Nyanza—a cultural landmark that offers insight into Rwanda’s royal heritage. Lunch is enjoyed en route.

Wind through the terraced hills of the Southern Province before arriving at your forest lodge in Nyungwe, perched above the treetops with panoramic views of the ancient canopy.

    Meals: Breakfast & Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel

DAY 5: Chimpanzee Tracking & Canopy Walk Adventure

Wake early for one of Rwanda’s most exhilarating experiences—chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest. Head to Cyamudongo Forest, where a habituated chimp troop resides. You may hear their calls echoing through the trees long before you see them.

Guided by expert trackers, you’ll spend up to an hour in their presence—observing their social dynamics, vocalizations, and playful energy. Along the way, keep your eyes open for blue monkeys, Ruwenzori turacos, and other endemic species.

After lunch, embark on a canopy walk above the forest, crossing a 200-meter suspension bridge that offers rare aerial views of this lush, untouched ecosystem.

    Meals: Breakfast & Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel

DAY 6: Tea Plantation Experience & Departure

After breakfast, take part in an immersive tea plantation tour, learning about the harvesting and production of one of Rwanda’s most important exports. Meet the farmers, explore the tea fields, and enjoy a fresh cup of local brew.

Return to your lodge for check-out and begin the drive back to Kigali, with optional stops for souvenir shopping and final photos along the way.

Upon arrival in Kigali, you’ll be transferred to the airport in time for your departure flight—carrying memories of Rwanda’s forests, wildlife, and warm-hearted people.

    Why Travelers Trust Us

Our guests don’t just come for the wildlife. They come for something more—the rare combination of uncompromising comfort, authentic connection, and purpose-driven travel that defines every Activenture journey.

If someone had told me that it was possible to go on an African Safari for the first time and it would be a completely stress-free, relaxing, safe and first-rate vacation all the way through, I wouldn’t have believed that was possible. But then I found Diana and her team. All the way through, my wife and I were very impressed with the detail of the planning and the quality of the lodging, guides and drivers. We feel very lucky that we found Diana’s team and we’re grateful for all they did to make our trip one that we will always treasure. We did the 6 days gorilla and tree-climbing lions package.

Diana was very helpful in setting up my Gorilla Tracking excursion to Bwindi. She did all of the leg work so that all we had to do was enjoy the trip.
Robert, our driver, was courteous and professional and provided invaluable assistance during the trip.
I would highly recommend Diana and her Team to anyone considering a trip to Uganda.

We had an amazing family holiday in Uganda, with thanks to Diana and our guide. We visited Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth National Park and finally the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to see the Mountain Gorillas. The team went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable trip and ensured our safety at all times. Would highly recommend using Diana & her team for your trip.

“What made it unforgettable? The people. The places. The purpose. You’re not just a visitor—you become part of something bigger. I came for the wildlife and left feeling connected to the continent.”

“We’ve traveled extensively, but nothing felt as genuine and personal as this. Our guide had grown up near the park—we weren’t just seeing animals; we were understanding them. And the people.”

“There were moments I forgot I was on a guided trip—it felt more like being hosted by a friend who knew every secret path, every story. I’ll never forget sitting under the stars in Bwindi after our gorilla trek. Life-changing.”

I joined the 20-day birding tour across Uganda and Rwanda—what a paradise. Over 500 species, expert guides, and moments of pure stillness in forests I’d only dreamed of. Spotting the shoebill in Mabamba, just wow!!!. Activentures really knows how to slow you down and tune you in.

    Ingrid Meyer — Hamburg, Germany
    tripadvisor safari reviews

Our family safari in Rwanda felt intimate and empowering. We trekked golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park, then immersed ourselves in learning basket weaving from a local women’s cooperative. Wow! It was real, raw, and restorative. Activentures made it feel safe, seamless, and deeply human.

Climbing Mt. Kenya with Activentures was wild in the best way. Altitude, silence, the grit, the moments where I thought, ‘I can’t do this,’ and then somehow did. Our guides were incredible—serious when it mattered, but full of stories and laughter too. Summit day nearly broke me, but standing up there, above the clouds, was the most alive I’ve ever felt.
